THE PROVERBS: Proverbs 1: 8-9

Hear my son, your father’s instruction, And do not forsake your mother’s teaching.

Indeed, they are a graceful wreath to your head, And ornaments about your neck.

Do you realise how beautiful you look today?

With that golden chain around your neck.

And how honourable and victorious you must feel, to wear that kingly wreath about your head.

Now, walk tall.

And if you are one who still teaches your sons, then know that both father and mother are instrumental and necessary in passing on God’s liberating law.

Let it come from your lips rather than from the lips of any ‘professional’ teachers, lying schoolmates, or liberal entertainment industry.

And if you are that son,

Then “Hear”!

After all, who doesn’t want beauty, victory, grace, honour, and life?

THE PROVERBS: Proverbs 1: 7

(v7) The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Fools despise wisdom and instruction.

THE PROVERBS: Proverbs 1:1-6

Have you heard of the “formation” of a soccer team, or a rugby team, or indeed any team, with players in set positions?

They may describe the formation as being “4-4-2” for example in soccer, which would mean 4 backs, 4 mid-field players and 2 strikers.

Proverbs has a formation of sorts too.

In the first 6 verses of Proverbs 1, the “formation” is described as “9-3-4”

PROVERBS 9-3-4

That’s 9 attributes gained-3 behavioural outcomes reached-4 types of peoples influenced positively.

What are the 9 attributes?

The 9 are: WISDOM, INSTRUCTION, DISCERNMENT, UNDERSTANDING, PRUDENCE, KNOWLEDGE, DISCRETION, LEARNING, WISE COUNSEL

(To remember these remember this: Would I Decide Under Proverbs to Know Deep Learning With Christ).

Do you have need of any of these?

Tell me, what are the 3 behavioural outcomes?

The 3 are RIGHTEOUSNESS, JUSTICE, and EQUITY

(To remember these, remember this: Ring Jesus Early!)

Does the world need any of these outcomes right now?

We hear a lot about injustice and inequity, and what of righteousness?

I wonder why that is?

Who then are the 4 people groups being influenced and benefitting from these proverbs?

The 4 are: The NAIVE, the YOUTH, the WISE MAN, and the MAN OF UNDERSTANDING.

(To remember these, remember this: Now You Will Manage!)

Which of these 4 groupings would you put yourself in? For it must be one of them.

Riddles are meant for the purpose of prizing them open to gain the contents.

How much do you want that “pearl”?

All 9 of them!

“And the acquisition of wisdom is above that of pearls” (Job 28:18)
